OCT 15: Alash, Tuvan throat singers,
at Immanuel Episcopal Church (venue change!)
ALASH are masters of Tuvan throat singing, a remarkable
technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. Masters of traditional Tuvan instruments as well as the art
of throat singing, Alash are deeply committed to traditional Tuvan music and culture. At the same time, they are fans of
western music. Believing that traditional music must constantly evolve, the musicians subtly infuse their songs
with western elements, creating their own unique style that is fresh and new, yet true to their Tuvan musical heritage.

NOV 5: Aine Minogue, Celtic harper
As traditional Irish music and dance continue to enjoy phenomenal success both here and in Ireland, Áine Minogue is an artist who has long explored its themes and who captures its very essence. Her voice reflects the lyricism and richness to be found in Irish music, mythology and poetry with a voice undeniably her own and a diverse group of instruments that add to the traditional flavor of her work.

NOV 19: Cody Michaels, solo pianist
blending classical, jazz and nature
For award-winning piano soloist and composer Cody Michaels, “the piano is a way to connect with the mystery of creation and every song is a prayer”. A former park ranger and farmhand, Cody's unique musical expressions inspire comparisons to the likes of Beethoven,
George Winston, Keith Jarrett and Page McConnell of Phish.
Also a storyteller and poet, his passionate performances
celebrate the wonders of nature, simple living, and the
power of the human spirit.

DEC 3: Possum Haw, authentic bluegrass/folk
PossumHaw is a dynamic, original, authentic bluegrass and
folk quintet from Burlington, Vermont. Originally formed in 2004, the band has evolved to combine award-winning, evocative songwriting and singing with top-notch bluegrass instrumentation. On the stage, PossumHaw offers a genuine, energetic, and highly entertaining performance without gimmickry.

DEC 17: Hungry Town, old-timey folk
"It is Rebecca Hall's voice and her songwriting that make Hungrytown what they are. She sings gently and with a pure tone that reminds me a little of mid-60s folk/pop sounds; it's the very antithesis of rock music and its attitudes. Ken Anderson is responsible for the arrangements that fit around her voice and contributes some seamless harmony vocals. If Rebecca is the nightingale, singing with a voice of captivating beauty, then Ken's arrangements are a lacework of branches, a frame of natural beauty in itself.... Contemporary American folk music is full of people trying to evoke times gone by and there seem to be almost as many ways of doing this as there are old-timey acts. Hungrytown have a distinctive slant on this whole idea and I think the quiet beauty of their music almost sounds like a prayer for calm in a febrile world. "

JAN 14: Coracle, music inspired by the earth and the sea.
Cynthia Hughes, Celtic harp and John Crockett, cello and Celtic whistles, are musicians and naturalists who bring their love of the earth and sea into their music to celebrate the interconnectedness of all life. Together they perform as Coracle, creating programs of Celtic and original music inspired by the land and the sea and its creatures, especially the whales and seals. Cynthia and John weave tunes, songs, and wildlife recordings into a magical journey where the human, the natural and the mystical meet.

MAR 17: St. Patrick's Day Fiddle Frenzy, Eugene Friesen, cello &

Russian Duo is an international project, born out of a love of traditional music and classical elegance. Oleg and Terry have teamed up for exuberant performances of soulful, passionate music. Their collaboration highlights the mysterious sounds of the balalaika underscored by the vast expressive range of the piano. Featuring vocals and Russian percussion, their extensive repertoire draws from Russian folk music, romances, dances, classical music, gypsy melodies and Russian songs

APR 14: Eugene Friesen and Friends
