In 1985, Christiane Klonz was awarded a diploma in the Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau, and in 1987 she received the Gold Medal.
Her brilliant and vivid interpretation of Richard Strauss' "Burlesque for Piano and Orchestra" in the Berolina Concert of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra won the acclaim of the professionals and the public alike. In 1996, Christiane Klonz was awarded a one-year artist's scholarship by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. She was the first pianist to receive this distinction.
CD recordings of works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Grieg, Chopin, Liszt and Shostakovich illustrate her ability to give convincing interpretations of works of different ages and styles. She will perform a debut concert at Carnegie Hall in March, 2008 before coming to Bellows Falls.
