Outreach

As part of the mission of Immanuel Episcopal Church, we strive to recognize the spiritual presence of Christ in our lives and to live out our beliefs through our actions. Our purpose is to help each other experience the Love of God, openly share the Gospel, and respond in Love to the needs of our neighbors.

Greater Falls United Network (GFUN)

The Greater Falls United Network is a group of service agencies and religious organizations within the Rockingham/Westminster area who have banded together to provide unified and efficient assistance to those within this community who face emergency housing needs (rents and electric bills, for example).

We provide financial assistance primarily for those needing help with rent and rental deposits. We also can give aid with electric bills on an emergency basis. By having one central fund through which to answer these emergency needs in our community, we give the best assistance possible with the least amount of overlap in services. The GFUN Fund is handled by SEVCA.

Near the end of 1997, South East Vermont Community Action (SEVCA), an agency for delivering assistance to the unemployed and underemployed residents of southeastern Vermont, realized that their funding for the coming year was insufficient to meet the needs of the community. They invited other agencies in the area, Parks Place and the Our Place Drop-In Center, as well as area churches, to a meeting to explore the possibilities of cooperation.

Out of this meeting came the decision to create a central pool to handle housing assistance and utility (electricity) needs, to be monitered by a series of checks and balances. Funds for the pool come from the area churches, as well as other grants. SEVCA oversees the administration of the fund, which has been operating successfully since April 1998.

We are dependent upon, and welcome, tax-deductible donations at any time of the year. To contribute, please contact SEVCA at (802) 722-4575 ext. 124.
